Never in my life did I think that I would show my photography at an art gallery. And when RAW Artists contacted me to show my work, I almost turned them down. But I'm so glad that I didn't.
Forget thinking about your actual work - doing an art gallery requires stressing about things like print material, gallery space and dimensions, and light fixtures. From the moment I decided to do this show, I realized it was going to be a learning experience.
And I did learn so much. I discovered that I love getting prints done on vinyl, as weird as that sounds. I talked with people who stopped my my table and heard what they liked. I watched as people walked by without even a second glance. Everyone responded uniquely to my photographs. I learned that it's ok if some people pass right by. Others will stay.
One of the best parts of the show was meeting other artists. Phoenix has some very talented people. Each display was so different from the next. There's no point in competing with other artists - humans are way too creative to ever stop inventing new ways of making you jealous. And I'm learning to love that.
Thank you so much to all my amazing friends and family who have supported me and modeled in my photos. Y'all are awesome.
