Recently I attended Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. It was an amazing experience for several reasons, one of which was simply walking amidst some of the most bizarrely dressed people I have ever seen.
My friends and I met models, stylists, and fellow photographers as we lined the runway with cameras blazing. Before the first model had even finished her walk, I was hooked.
Many of the designers were Phoenix locals. Some were older; some were in their teens. Attending a fashion show is a very different experience from doing a fashion shoot, but I was able to capture some of my favorite "fashion" photos to date.
I think that people often think of fashion events or larger parties in general as somewhere you have to stress about your appearance and dress. But walking around at the event, I was impressed with the diversity and uniqueness of each person's attire. People were wearing some pretty crazy stuff. And they got to express themselves however they wanted because of the nature of the event. I couldn't help smiling as I watched people strutting around in the zaniest heels they couldn't have worn anywhere else.
Thank you to the amazing people that put on Fashion Week every year!
